
Teeth Fracture jaw
A broken jaw causes pain and usually cause malocclusion. Often can not open your mouth wide or shifted to one side when opened or closed.
Most jaw fractures occur in the lower jaw (mandible).
Fracture upper jaw (maxilla) can cause:
- Double vision (because of the eye muscles attached nearby)
- Numbness in the skin under the eyes (because of injuries to persarafannya)
- Irregularities in the cheek bone can be felt when the fingers touched his cheek.
Any injury that causes a broken jaw, also can injure the spine in the neck, so prior to treatment for a broken jaw, neck x-ray examination is often performed. A powerful blow that caused the jaw fracture can also cause apoplexy or hemorrhage intrkranial. If a suspected broken jaw, then the patient must hold his jaw with a clenched his teeth and jaws can not move. The jaws can be held by hand or with a bandage wrapped around several times in the jaw and over his head, but not to obstruct the airway. Patients may seek medical help as soon as the fracture can cause internal bleeding and airway obstruction.
At the hospital, the upper jaw and lower jaw will be bound with wire (wiring), and left for 6 weeks for complete recovery of bone. During the installation of the wire, people can only drink liquids through a straw. Many a broken jaw that can be repaired surgically with a plate; jaw should not be driven only for a few days, after which the patient can eat soft food for several weeks. Antibiotics are usually given on a compound fracture, where a broken bone or a tooth spread to his pocket and an open fracture associated with a contaminated area (eg mouth).
